This award may be made annually to one member of CDARTA.
It is presented to a member who excels in his/her
efforts over several years to promote the work of CDARTA through service,
leadership, advocacy, scholarly achievement or research.
Qualifications:
Current member of CDARTA
And should have two or more of the following:
Must have at least five years of experience in TR
Distinctive leadership in promotion, organization and
development of an innovative or unique TR program
Evidence of leadership such as being an elected officer
in a TR association
A chairperson or member of any TR association committee
or task group
Advocates for the rights of clients or for the TR
profession at the national, state or local levels (e.g. legislative efforts
at national or state levels, lobbying for clients or the profession with
elected officials)
Addresses or appearances to groups in person, on radio or
television pertaining to the broad field of TR
Professional presentations at TR conferences/workshops
Published articles in a refereed professional journal
Published articles in a newspaper, magazine or
non-refereed journal pertaining to TR
Research which has helped to advance the profession
Author/co-author or editor of a book on TR or related
fields
Contribution to the profession, which has affected the
philosophy or practice
This award recognizes the recipient’s outstanding
contribution to therapeutic recreation through creative and innovative
programming in a clinical setting, promotion of the profession, and service to
developing professionals in the past year.
Qualifications:
Current member of CDARTA
And should have two or more of the following:
Minimum of three years of full-time employment in TR
Evidence of creative and innovative programming in a
clinical setting
A case study example of a positive outcome with a client
Creative and/or unique clinical program developed to meet
a specific population need
Outstanding program development and implementation
Promotion of the profession
Presentations at TR conferences/workshops
Service on a TR board, committee or task group
Author of written or other media materials in TR
Service to upcoming professionals
Supervision of field placements or internship students
Provides “experience days” to students allowing them to
gain observational or practical experience
Organization: An
organization is defined as any group who advocates, promotes, and/or supports
the delivery of services to persons with disabilities. This includes any public,
private, or voluntary group organized under a charter, permit, certificate or
incorporation.
Institution: Agencies, which are primarily residential in
nature but which also provide day or outreach services. The institution's
purpose is to provide health, treatment, rehabilitation or other human services,
including recreation to persons with disabilities. Only one award will be given
each year. This award is not based on the quality of an agency's TR department,
staff, or services, but rather on external TR services noted under
qualifications.
Qualifications:
Promoting Therapeutic Recreation on any level
Sponsoring or supporting TR workshops and seminars
Supporting TR
professionals through research, holding office, conducting
workshops/seminars
Voluntary assistance in TR programs
Preparing and sponsoring legislation of importance to TR
Promoting TR to those typically underserved, regardless
of race, religion or sexual preferences
Qualifications:
Must be a CDARTA member
Must be currently enrolled in a university or college RT/TR program.
May be an undergraduate or graduate student.
Should demonstrate excellent academic performance.
Should demonstrate evidence of contribution to the RT/TR profession outside
the classroom. This may include volunteer work, legislative efforts,
or written or presented materials pertaining to RT/TR.
